This time you are the musician!

Craft brings to music lessons what Beerthoven has brought to concerts since 2014: accessibility, approachability, and sociability, all helped along by a mug or two of beer.

Never touched a piano before? Our beer-themed Level 1 curriculum is brewed to perfection to introduce you to the basics of piano technique and musical notation.

Have you had musical training in the past but need some refreshment? Our Level 2 class is a great way to review basic notation and progress in your piano technique.

The benefits of group piano lessons combined with the mobility of the Beerthoven model make it the ideal project for improving creativity and camaraderie within your business, brewery, or community center. Weekly, hour-long group lessons are a fraction of the cost of traditional lessons — and with Craft, the beer is free!

Note: Craft Piano classes are currently on pause but sign up for our waitlist so that you’ll be the first to hear when the next course is scheduled.

Adult Group Piano Courses

As seen in the Austin American Statesman and Food and Wine Magazine, Beerthoven Craft (formerly spelled “Kraft”) offers a flight of one-hour group piano lessons, once a week for 8 weeks, complete with beer-themed curriculum, expert instruction, and a pint of beer included in every lesson. You get all of this for only $35 per lesson!

What is Group Piano?

Group piano lessons are the perfect platform to learn music in a fun and engaging atmosphere. In addition to teaching how to play the piano, these creative courses focus on a variety of musical skills including music theory, reading musical notation, and active listening. A variety of genres of music will be explored including classical, pop, and jazz with all course content relating to inspiring music. And as much as the focus will be on just plain-ole-fun, research has shown numerous benefits of learning music at all ages as you can see in the following Benefits section. The group setting enhances the learning experience by adding a rewarding and beneficial social component, so you can also plan on making many new friends! The setup includes fully-weighted, 88-key digital keyboards for each student, speakers for listening to/playing along with music, and a projector to watch performances and look at many different types of online content.

Bring Craft to Your Office or Workplace!

The benefits of group piano combined with the mobility of the Beerthoven model make it the ideal project for improving creativity and camaraderie within your business. Weekly, hour-long group lessons are a fraction of the cost of traditional lessons--and with Craft, the beer is free!

The flexibility of the Beerthoven Craft model allows classes to be set up virtually anywhere--an office, community space, retirement center...even a brewery! So instead of shuffling your employees off into the arms of rush hour traffic, invite us to turn your company rush hour into an enriching experience where music is learned and beers are had by all!

Please email daniel@beerthoven.com to inquire about a group piano class in your own environment. Whether the location is an office, community center, or social organization, our mobile piano lab can bring the rewarding experience of learning (or re-learning!) an instrument to any environment.

Our mission is to offer enriching musical experiences through down-to-earth means.

Watch this video for a sample of the Beerthoven exbeerience!

A special effort is made at Beerthoven events to make them free of unnecessary rules and formalities to which the audience must adhere. It is our hope that we might serve an audience that has -or may develop- an appreciation for classical music, an audience that would be unlikely to visit a traditional concert hall.

Beerthoven especially celebrates classical song and chamber music (small ensembles of two or more). Programming is intentionally diverse in tone, instrumentation, and featured performers. Beerthoven supports local artists by offering fair compensation and a unique performance exbeerience.

Parking Info

For events at our home location, the Austin Saengerrunde:

Look for parking in the state garages immediately surrounding the Saengerrunde facilities. If these are unavailable or closed off, try the Texas Capitol Visitors Center, three blocks south of the Saengerrunde on San Jacinto.

During most of our events these are open and free of charge. Sometimes there is a parking attendant charging $7-10, -especially when concurrent events take place in the Erwin Center.

We cannot guarantee their availability so we would recommend coming early in case you need to use the Capitol Visitors Center garage or find on-street parking.

For Events at the Neill-Cochran House Museum:

Limited parking is available for free on-site in Neill-Cochran House's own lot, accessible via 23rd street in between Leon and San Gabriel. Additional parking can be found at the Quarters Parking Garage in West Campus: 700-898 W 22 1/2 St, Austin, TX 78705.
