The Invocation of Oktoberfest

  • Neill-Cochran House Museum 2310 San Gabriel St Austin United States (map)

Beerthoven is thrilled to join up once again for two live outdoor performances with the bowed and fretted string quartet invoke! The program will feature invoke originals and Oktoberfest-themed selections that are sure to pair well with a pint or two.

In addition to the live music, we will be serving warm pastries and cold beer generously provided by Easy Tiger and Lazarus Brewing--at no additional cost! All attendees to our Friday performance at the Neill-Cochran House will also be allowed one free visit to the Neill-Cochran House Museum's exhibits (voucher to be used at a different time than that of the performance, as the performance takes place after museum hours).

For our Friday performance: Order in advance online and save! General Tickets at the door will be charged $30.

Student Rush Tickets will be sold at the door the day of the show for $10 until capacity is reached.

Our Saturday, October 2nd performance will take place in a beautiful backyard mystery* venue located in the hills of West Austin, zip code 78746 (ignore the address listed for December 2nd in the pop up window when you hit "Select A Date"--the Saturday performance will not be at Neill-Cochran).

*For sake of preserving the privacy of our hosts, the exact location of our Saturday performance is to be revealed only to ticketed guests. Tickets for this performance will be available for advance purchase only; tickets will not be available at the door. Call or email in advance for student tickets to this performance.

Beerthoven events are family-friendly--kids are welcome!

Safety Protocols:

The performance and intermissions will all take place outdoors with socially-distant seating, grouped according to ticket orders (if you'd like to sit close to a friend, please order your tickets together and arrive together). Masking is strongly encouraged when social distancing is not possible (e.g. in the beer line) and required at all times when entering indoors (e.g. when using the restroom).

About invoke:

Described by one pretty important radio guy as “not classical…but not not classical” (David Srebnik, SiriusXM Classical Producer), Invoke continues to successfully dodge even the most valiant attempts at genre classification. The multi-instrumental band’s other not-nots encompass traditions from across America, including bluegrass, Appalachian fiddle tunes, jazz, and minimalism. Invoke weaves all of these styles together to create truly individual music, written by and for the group. Equally at home in a collaborative setting, Invoke has performed with musicians from widely varying genres, from the Ensō Quartet, to chamber rock powerhouse San Fermin, to beatboxer/rapper/spoons virtuoso Christylez Bacon. Invoke’s two albums Souls in the Mud and Furious Creek both feature original works composed by and for the group, plus the quartet has also performed and recorded numerous world premieres. Invoke believes in championing diverse American voices, including their ongoing commissioning project American Postcards, which asks composers to pick a time and place in American history and tell its story through Invoke’s unique artistry. https://www.invokesound.com/
