Carna-Fall at Saengerrunde Hall

  • Beerthoven Concert Series 1607 San Jacinto Boulevard Austin, TX, 78701 United States (map)

Saúde! We're taking a musical trip down to Brazil and Argentina for this concert celebrating tangos, choros, popular songs, and the spirit of passion, heartbreak, and nostalgia that is infused into their insatiable rhythms. The concert will include classics such as El choclo by Ángel Villoldo, Odeon by Ernesto Nazareth, selections by Astor Piazzolla, and much more! Fall in love this Fall with Carna-Fall!

Beerthoven welcomes the violin and cello pairing of Duo-B, made up of Hirono and Philip Borter. Duo-B creates distinct programs of international music in a variety of genres, often through new and original arrangements, and have shared these unique and innovative programs on three continents and in special album releases. The Borters will be making the drive down from Waco, TX where they are string faculty members at Baylor University.

New Addition to the program: Join us 30 minutes before the performance for a special presentation by music theorist Dr. John Turci-Escobar of UT's Butler School of Music, as he will open your minds and ears to the special features of tango music.

During intermissions, guests will enjoy the feats and wizardry of Dylan Love, performing magic that will amaze and delight.

Thanks to our sponsors, we will be serving warm pastries and cold beer generously provided by Easy Tiger and Lazarus Brewing as well as wine and non-alcoholic beverages--all at no additional cost! Guests will enjoy these tasty treats from an upper patio that overlooks Scholz Garten; the oldest beer garden in America.

This event will take place in an intimate upper room at the historic Saengerrunde Hall in downtown Austin; home to Austin's oldest cultural institution, the German singing society the Austin Saengerrunde. Exbeerience Beerthoven in the heart of the Live Music Capital of the World!

Kids are welcome! Tickets for children as well as students through college age are available for $10. Purchase at the door or email daniel@beerthoven.com for advance student tickets.

This project has been financed in whole or in part by the City of Austin’s Elevate Grant Program.

Intimate Performance at Esquina Tango Saturday, November 18th at 7:30 pm:

We're excited to produce this special program of music from Brazil and Argentina at Austin's home for tango, Esquina Tango, in East Austin! See this page for tickets to this special performance.

Parking Info:

Look for parking in the state parking garages immediately surrounding the Saengerrunde facilities. If these are unavailable or closed off, try the Texas Capitol Visitors Center, three blocks south of the Saengerrunde on San Jacinto.

During most of our events these are open and free of charge. Sometimes there is a parking attendant charging $7-10, especially when concurrent events take place in the Moody Center.

We cannot guarantee their availability so we would recommend coming early in case you need to use the Capitol Visitors Center garage (14th and San Jacinto) or find on-street parking.
