The Wild Rover at Neill-Cochran

If Beethoven ever appeared as clean and put-together as most historic imagery of him suggests, it was only after he'd been pressured into a bath and his friends had switched out the dirty clothes in his closet for clean ones. A man who was constantly changing lodgings and was once even arrested for what others mistook for vagrancy, Beethoven was a wild one!

We're celebrating Beethoven's wild ways in the first program of Beerthoven's Ninth Season: The Wild Rover! Featuring a quartet first performed at a tavern known as The Wild Man; Beethoven's Op. 132 String Quartet in A Minor. Music from other wild men on the program includes Hugo Wolf's Italian Serenade and Debussy's one and only string quartet.

Our featured ensemble is the all-Korean, all-female string quartet Risus; winners of the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the current Young Professional String Quartet in Residence at the University of Texas at Austin.

Thanks to our sponsors, we will be serving warm pastries and cold beer generously provided by Easy Tiger and Lazarus Brewing as well as wine and non-alcoholic beverages--all at no additional cost!

Kids are welcome! Tickets for children as well as students through college age are available for $10. Purchase at the door or email daniel@beerthoven.com for advance student tickets.
